I am about to buy a 2017 QX60 from a seller who told me it only had a tiny accident two years ago and that everything was fixed properly. The price is really good, maybe too good, and that is exactly what makes me nervous. I went to see it twice. In daylight the car looks perfect, clean paint, nice inside, no warning lights. But when I drove it for ten minutes, I felt that the steering wanted to pull a little to the right, and I heard a soft creak when I went over a bump near the parking entrance. The seller said it is just the tires and old roads. Maybe he is right, but my gut says check deeper. My brother in law works in an office and knows nothing about cars, so he said just buy it, it looks great. My friend who used to work in a garage said never trust a car with an accident history until someone looks at the frame underneath. He told me to look for uneven gaps between the doors and the body, paint that looks different in some places, and bolts that have fresh marks on them. I tried it and honestly one door gap on the left side looked a bit wider than the other, but I am not sure if I am imagining it. I also read a page from a workshop in Mussafah that explained what the chassis is, how it holds the whole car together, and how even a small hit can bend a part and cause uneven tire wear or a car that never drives straight again. It was written in easy words, and it made me feel like I should not rush. Since I mostly drive around ICAD for work, I started thinking that if this car needs anything, I would want Quality chassis repair for Infiniti models in ICAD close to where I am, but first I need to know if the car even has a problem. So here are my questions. Can a normal inspection find a bent chassis, or do they need special equipment to measure it? Is it possible to repair a bent frame properly, or is the car never the same again? And if I still buy it, how much lower should I ask for the price? Also, does this kind of damage hurt the resale value later, even after a good repair? Did anyone here buy a car with a history and regret it, or maybe it worked out fine? Thanks a lot for reading, I really need real opinions before I send the money.
